I have been working in this parish for a week, and I have visited 2 senior homes and 4 families along with some parishioners.

The settings of these senior homes are not much bigger than those of Toronto, but the interaction of each member in the homes is undoubtedly stronger and closer.

Recently, I have also visited a woman named Leung Wai Chun in Macau. She is a widow that has lost her eyesight. I have introduced a bit of her life in the past. I knew her for more than 30 years. She was one of the parishioners of Fr. J. Lai (who is now the Bishop in Macau). Although, in those years she was impoverished, she could still live a simple and frugal life in order to buy fruits for the elders who were sick. She even refused to enter senior homes, so that she could continue to be among the poor as a witness. Only ten years ago did she enter a senior home conducted by religious sisters.

She said to me, “Six years ago, when you said goodbye to me, I really did not have confidence that I will see you again, because I was already 84 years of age and my body was weak. In my prayers, I did not even pray for the hope of seeing you again! Since I can see you today, I’m already very satisfied.”

I don’t know why I had the thought that this elderly is not on this earth anymore. As soon as I heard from Bishop Lai that this woman is still alive, I immediately went to visit this senior who has set a good model for us.

You can’t believe it - she is already 90 years old and her body is weak, but in the first impression when I met her again, I saw that she has a glow on her face and she is energetic. As you can see, God rewards those who sincerely love Him
