“When you hold a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind; blessed indeed will you be because of their inability to repay you.” (Luke 14:13-14) There is no doubt that Jesus does not want us to bestow favors onto others and seek for a reward afterwards. He wishes that we can all be like him, sacrificing for others unconditionally. Have we ever thought that by His dedication on the cross, Jesus has opened the heavenly door for us and He also welcomes the whole of mankind to enter into the big family in the kingdom of heaven. Spiritually are we not all “the poor, the crippled, the lame and the blind”? Since God has given us all His grace without any cost, should we also treat each other in the same way? “Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us!” When we know how to bestow favors onto others purely for the glory of God, Jesus for sure will show us his endless gratitude. As “Whatsoever you do to the least of my brother, that you do it unto me.”
