“Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her.” (Luke 10:42) According to stories handed down, Jesus had driven out seven demons from the woman known as Mary Magdalene. This could explain why she treasured her time spent together with Jesus. Jesus said to Martha, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things.” This shows that Jesus corrected her with good intention. There is a time for everything: time for work, time for pray and time for rest. “Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her.” means that if a person who is willing to repent and convert to Christ sincerely, God’s grace for this man will be strong with strength. Throughout the whole dialogue, Jesus did not degrade the value of work. If people only care about working and forget about praying, the meaning of life will focus in attending to the superficial and the essentials will be neglected, as the work of mankind is to sanctify the world and glorify the Lord and not to satisfy personal desires.
