“Go, sell what you have, and give to (the) poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.” (Mark 10:21) The above words have similar meanings to the following beatitudes, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:3) Jesus himself lived out this spirit of poverty, “The time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” (Luke 2:6-7) Jesus also admitted humbly, “Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head.” (Matthew 8:20) Therefore, the only way to achieve a peaceful mind is to learn from Jesus, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for your selves.” (Matthew 11:29) At the same time, show humility to others, “The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve.” (Matthew 20:28); “If I, therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another's feet.” (John 13:14); “If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all.” (Mark 9:35)
