“Be merciful, just as (also) your Father is merciful.” (Luke 6:36) All major religions use “What we do not want, we do not give to others” as a motto. The hidden meaning is “What we want, we give to others”. This reflects precisely Jesus Christ’ teachings: “Do to others as you would have them do to you.” (Luke 6:31). Jesus Christ taught that “love” is given without reward. “If you lend money to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit (is) that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, and get back the same amount.” (Luke 6:34) “This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends.” (John 15:12-13) Jesus therefore sacrificed his life for us sinners! "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust.” (Matt. 5:43-45) Can we do that? Please listen to Jesus’ teaching: “Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Amen, I say to you, it will be hard for one who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for one who is rich to enter the kingdom of God ." When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and said, "Who then can be saved?" Jesus looked at them and said, "For human beings this is impossible, but for God all things are possible." (Matt. 19:23-26) First, we have to believe that “Be merciful, just as (also) your Father is merciful” is possible. Second, we have to take the first step, to see Jesus’ presence in every person. Third, let us serve each person, as if we are serving Christ. Lord, we trust in you!
