“Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave from there.” (Mark 6:10) The Gospel of Matthew describes in more detail how to choose a suitable family: “Whatever town or village you enter, look for a worthy person in it, and stay there until you leave. As you enter a house, wish it peace. If the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it; if not, let your peace return to you. (Matthew 10:11-13) The Gospel of Matthew also prompted the disciples not to mind free lunch, “for the laborer deserves his keep.” (Matthew 10:10) The Gospel of Luke also reminds in the same tone: “Stay in the same house and eat and drink what is offered to you, for the laborer deserves his payment. Do not move about from one house to another.” (Luke 10:7) Since all the daily needs has already been arranged, “Jesus instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick: no food, no sack, no money in their belts.” (Mark 6:8-9) The special message from the Gospel of Mark requires the disciples to go forth and witness “two by two”. Jesus wants his disciples to live out the virtue of mutual love before preaching.
