“To the one, who has, more will be given; from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.” (Mark 4:25) According to the definition of Bosco Bible: If man utilizes well the grace granted to him, he will receive more; if man ignores grace, what he has will be taken away. Jesus’ teaching about the ‘parable of the seed’ explains that it is not God not granting man grace, it is man who does not appreciate it. Let’s listen to Jesus’ explanation: “The sower sows the ‘word’. These are the ones on the path where the ‘word’ is sown. As soon as they hear, Satan comes at once and takes away the ‘word’ sown in them. And these are the ones sown on rocky ground who, when they hear the ‘word’, receive it at once with joy. But they have no root; they last only for a time. Then when tribulation or persecution comes because of the ‘word’, they quickly fall away. Those sown among thorns are another sort. They are the people who hear the ‘word’, but worldly anxiety, the lure of riches, and the craving for other things intrude and choke the ‘word’, and it bears no fruit. But those sown on rich soil are the ones who hear the ‘word’ and accept it and bear fruit thirty and sixty and a hundredfold.” (Mark 4:14-20) Temptation cannot be avoided. When Jesus started to preach, he was tempted thrice by the devil in the wilderness. However, Jesus defeated the evil one by the words of scripture. In the same way, if we are rooted in God’s holy word, we also are able to defeat “worldly anxiety, the lure of riches”. In 1 Peter it is written: “Rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, insincerity, envy, and all slander; like newborn infants, long for pure spiritual milk so that through it you may grow into salvation.” (1 Peter 2:1-2)
