恭讀聖若望福音 18:33b-37

那時候，比拉多對耶穌說：「你是猶太人的君王嗎？」耶穌答覆說：「這話是你由自己說的，或是別人論我而對你說的？」比拉多答說：「莫非我是猶太人？你的民族和司祭長把你交付給我，你作了什麼？」耶穌回答說：「我的國不屬於這世界；假使我的國屬於這世界，我的臣民早已反抗了，使我不至於被交給猶太人；但是，我的國不是這世界的。」於是比拉多對他說：「那麼，你就是君王了？」耶穌回答說：「你說的是，我是君王。我為此而生，我也為此而來到世界上，為給真理作證：凡屬於真理的，必聽從我的聲音。」

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to John 18:33-37

33 Pilate entered the praetorium again and called Jesus, and said to him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” 34 Jesus answered, “Do you say this of your own accord, or did others say it to you about me?” 35 Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have handed you over to me; what have you done?” 36 Jesus answered, “My kingship is not of this world; if my kingship were of this world, my servants would fight, that I might not be handed over to the Jews; but my kingship is not from the world.” 37 Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Every one who is of the truth hears my voice.”

Beyond solitude

The story is told of an unhappy priest, who on the evening he defected, said to a visitor who congratulated him, “I am now no more than a philosopher, completely alone.” A bitter reflection, but how right he was! He had left the Dwelling, outside of which there is only exile and loneliness.
Many do not feel this, because they live… “clinging to the world like algae on rocks in the sea”(Clement of Alexandria)… Or they look in various ways, to deceive their thirst, for some surrogate for the Church.
But those who understand in the depth of their being … the Call that inspired them, understand that no friendship or love or social group that supports them in life can satisfy the thirst for communion…
Nothing created by men and women, or that remains at a human level, can relieve a person from solitude. In fact this is better understood when people understand themselves better. For this is exactly the opposite of the communion to which we are called. It has the breadth and the depth.

教会：超越孤独

讲述的是，一位可怜的神父，在放弃信仰的前一个晚上，对一个前来道贺的客人说：“如今我只是一个哲学家，也即，仅仅一个平凡的人”。此乃沉痛而真确的反省！他离开了神性的居所，此后在流放之地，只有孤独相陪。
许多人是当局者迷……“拥抱着世界，如同攀援于岩石上的海藻”（亚历山大的克莱孟）……或者通过不同的途径，寻找能够替代教会的东西，企图蒙蔽他们的渴望。但是，谁如果懂得在其内心深处……领悟那份唤醒他的召叫，就会深深知道：友谊、爱情和社会团体可以支持人的存在，但不能缓解对共融的渴望……
任何由人发明的东西，或者纯属人性层面的一切，都无法使人脱离孤独。这孤独感会随着人更深入认识自己而加强：人被召就是为了共融，为了活出共融的广度和深度。孤独却与共融背道而驰。

默　想

• 際此乙年禮儀年的結束，迎接將臨期的到來，基督普世君王節提醒我們，主耶穌是誰？
• 祂本是天主子，降生成人，來到人世間，與我們同甘共苦。睡在馬槽裡的聖嬰，是君王，　是對世界最重要的禮品，縱然這個世界似乎不甚歡迎這位聖嬰的到來。
• 耶穌沒有說錯，祂的國度不同這世界的國度。如果我們要看到體會到祂的國度，需要以耶穌的眼睛去看去體會；有趣地，如果我們更學會多以耶穌的眼睛看這個世界，予以觸動和關愛，耶穌的國度可以臨現人間。
• 事實上，上主繼續等待我們跟祂合作，建設地上天國。
• 準備，就由今天起！
