恭讀聖瑪竇福音 18:21-35
那時,伯多祿前來對耶穌說:「主啊!若我的弟兄得罪了我,我該寬恕他多少次?直到七次嗎?」耶穌對他說:「我不對你說:直到七次,而是到七十個七次。為此 天國好比一個君王,要同他的僕人算賬。他開始算賬的時候,給他送來了一個欠他一萬「塔冷通」的,因他沒有可還的,主人就下令,要他把自己和妻子兒女,以及 他所有的一切,都變賣來還債。那僕人就俯伏在地叩拜他說:主啊!容忍我吧!一切我都要還給你。那僕人的主人就動心把他釋放了,並且也赦免了他的債。但那僕 人正出去時,遇見了一個欠他一百「德納」的同伴,他就抓住他,扼住他的喉嚨說:還你欠的債!他的同伴就俯伏在地哀求他說:容忍我吧!我必還給你。可是他不 願意,且把他下在監裡,直到他還清了欠債。他的同伴見到所發生的事,非常悲憤,遂去把所發生的一切告訴了主人。於是主人把那僕人叫來,對他說:惡僕!因為 你哀求了我,我赦免了你那一切的債;難道你不該憐憫你的同伴,如同我憐憫了你一樣嗎?他的主人大怒,遂把他交給刑役,直到他還清所欠的一切。如果你們不各 自從心裡寬恕自己的弟兄,我的天父也必要這樣對待你們。」

21 Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven. 23 “Therefore the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants. 24 When he began the reckoning, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents; 25 and as he could not pay, his lord ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made. 26 So the servant fell on his knees, imploring him, `Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.’ 27 And out of pity for him the lord of that servant released him and forgave him the debt. 28 But that same servant, as he went out, came upon one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and seizing him by the throat he said, `Pay what you owe.’ 29 So his fellow servant fell down and besought him, `Have patience with me, and I will pay you.’ 30 He refused and went and put him in prison till he should pay the debt. 31 When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their lord all that had taken  place. 32 Then his lord summoned him and said to him, `You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you besought me; 33 and should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’ 34 And in anger his lord delivered him to the jailers, till he should pay all his debt. 35 So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart.”

Benedict XVI announces special year for priests, warns of ‘dilution’ of priestly ministry

.- Meeting with members of the Congregation for Clergy this morning, the Holy Father announced that the Church will celebrate a special year for priests beginning on June 19, 2009.  The year will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the death of St. Jean Vianney, Cure of Ars.

Pope Benedict received representatives from the congregation’s full assembly, which is currently focused on how the three offices (tre munera) of the priest make him a missionary within the Church.

In his address, the Pontiff emphasized the constant struggle for moral perfection that dwells “in every truly priestly heart.”  In support of this tendency toward spiritual perfection, the Holy Father announced that he has “decided to call a special ‘Year for Priests’ which will run from June 19, 2009 to June 19, 2010.”

He noted that he year also marks the “150th anniversary of the death of the saintly ‘Cure of Ars’, Jean Marie Vianney, a true example of a pastor at the service of Christ’s flock.”

The Pope will inaugurate the Year on June 19 by presiding at Vespers in St. Peter’s Basilica, where the relics of the ‘Cure of Ars’ will be brought for the occasion by Bishop Guy Bagnard of Belley-Ars, France.

During the course of the Year, Benedict XVI will proclaim St. Jean Marie Vianney as the patron saint of all the priests of the world. A “Directory for Confessors and Spiritual Directors” will also be published, as will a collection of texts by the Holy Father on essential aspects of the life and mission of priests in our time.

The year will close June 19, 2010, with Pope Benedict presiding at a “World Meeting of Priests” in St. Peter’s Square.

Speaking to the Congregation for Clergy, the Holy Father also mentioned the ecclesial communal, hierarchical and doctrinal dimensions that are “absolutely indispensable for any authentic [priestly] mission,” and which guarantee “spiritual effectiveness.”

He explained that the mission is ecclesial “because no-one announces or brings themselves, … but brings Another, God Himself, to the world. God is the only wealth that, definitively, mankind wishes to find in a priest.”

“The mission is ‘communal’,” he continued, “because it takes place in a unity and communion which only at a secondary level possess important aspects of social visibility.”

He added that the “’hierarchical’ and ‘doctrinal’ dimensions emphasize the importance of ecclesiastical discipline (a term related to that of ‘disciple’) and of doctrinal (not just theological, initial and permanent) formation.”

The Pope also stressed the importance of priestly formation which must maintain “communion with unbroken ecclesial Tradition, without pausing or being tempted by discontinuity. In this context,” he continued, “it is important to encourage priests, especially the young generations, to a correct reading of the texts of Vatican Council II, interpreted in the light of all the Church’s doctrinal inheritance.”

In conclusion, the Holy Father warned of the “dilution” of priestly ministry.  He explained that the without priests, “there would be no Eucharist, no mission” or the Church.  “It is necessary then, to ensure that ‘new structures’ or pastoral organizations are not planned for a time in which it will be possible to ‘do without’ ordained ministry, on the basis of an erroneous interpretation of the promotion of the laity, because this would lay the foundations for a further dilution in priestly ministry, and any supposed ’solutions’ would, in fact, dramatically coincide with the real causes of the problems currently affecting the ministry.”

教宗主日三鐘經講話談非洲之行旨在宣講基督和十字架喜訊

梵蒂岡電臺訊)教宗本篤十六世三月十五日星期天正午出現在梵蒂岡宗座大樓他的書房窗口,帶領聚集在梵蒂岡聖伯多祿廣場的信友頌念三鐘經。在這項祈禱前後,教宗向他們談了他將于今天,也就是三月十七日啓程的首度非洲牧靈訪問之行,以及星期日當天在羅馬聖保祿大殿舉行的、保祿年世界大學生及大學代表團朝聖活動結束彌撒。

教宗開門見山便說:“從下星期二,三月十七日至二十三日,我將進行首次非洲牧靈訪問之旅。我要到喀麥隆首都雅溫得,把第二屆非洲主教特別會議綱領交給主教們,這項會議將于今年十月間在梵蒂岡召開。隨後我將前往安哥拉首都羅安達,這個國家經過長期内戰之後,已經恢復和平,如今正在重建為正義的國度”。

教宗進而說:“我願意藉這次訪問擁抱整個非洲大陸。這塊大陸多彩多姿,深具宗教信仰情愫,它有古老的文化,但正走在發展與修和的艱苦道路上,它有嚴重的問題和痛苦的創傷,也有巨大的潛能和希望。我此行願意堅固天主教友的信德,鼓勵基督信徒努力推動大公合一的工作,向所有的人宣報復活的主托付給教會的和平訊息”。

於是,教宗把他的非洲行與當天彌撒第二篇讀經配合起來,他說:“正當我為非洲行做準備的時候,今天四旬期第三主日禮儀提供給我們默想的保祿宗徒的話,便在我腦海中繚繞。聖保祿給格林多人寫信說:‘我們所宣講的是被釘在十字架上的基督,這為猶太人固然是絆腳石,為外邦人是愚妄,但為那些蒙召的人,不拘是猶太人或希臘人,基督卻是天主的德能和天主的智慧’(格前1,23-24)”。

說到這裡,教宗又把他的話題引到非洲之行說:“親愛的兄弟姐妹們,我深知我前往非洲,除了基督和他的十字架喜訊之外,沒有什麽可貢獻給我將會晤的人。那個喜訊是最高愛的奧跡,是天主愛的奧跡,這個愛抵得住人類任何抗拒,甚至使寬恕和愛仇敵都變爲可能。這就是福音的恩寵,這個恩寵足以改變世界,能夠更新非洲,因爲它產生和平與徹底修和這種不可抗拒的力量”。教宗因此強調:“教會不追求經濟、社會與政治目的,教會所宣講的是基督,它肯定福音必能感動並改變每個人的心,從内部深處更新人和社會”。

教宗名叫若瑟,三月十九日正好是他的本名聖若瑟瞻禮,聖若瑟也是普世教會的主保。教宗說那天他已在非洲進行訪問。他扼要介紹大聖若瑟的生平說:“聖若瑟在夢中得到天使通知,必須帶著瑪利亞逃亡非洲埃及,使剛出生的耶穌獲得安全,因爲黑落德王要殺害他。這就應驗了聖經的話:耶穌步武了先祖的蹤跡,流亡埃及,然後像以色列子民一樣,回到天主預許的福地。我把即將展開的朝聖之旅和面對挑戰又懷抱希望的整個非洲大陸人民,都托付給這位大聖人在天的轉禱”。教宗又說:“我特別想到飢餓、疾病、不正義、手足彼此殘殺、以及各種暴力下的犧牲者,不幸的是這些暴力繼續不斷打擊成人和兒童,連傳教士、神父、修會會士修女和志工也沒能倖免”。教宗因此邀請每個人以祈禱呼求非洲之母與非洲之后瑪利亞陪伴他非洲此行。

三鐘經祈禱之後,教宗又向眼前人山人海的各國信友談到當天是全球大學生和大學教授牧靈代表團在羅馬舉行保祿年活動結束的一天。這天上午他們都齊聚聖保祿大殿,參與聖座天主教教育部部長澤農樞機主教為他們舉行的彌撒聖祭。臺灣臺北天主教輔仁大學校長黎建球教授也率領代表團專程前來參與,並應邀於三月十六日上午在羅馬宗座烏爾巴諾大學發表年度學術專題演講,題目為《老子的道與費洛内的理念之比較》;這天下午黎校長又在羅馬額我略大學,以《孔子的王道與基督信仰的仁愛之比較》為題,發表演講。

教宗說:“今天上午大學生保祿年朝聖活動在聖保祿大殿結束。這項活動是是由聖座天主教教育部和聖座文化委員會聯合發起,並由羅馬教區代理主教公署籌辦的。主題是《我給你們宣報你們所敬拜卻不認識的那個:建立新人文主義的福音與文化》”。

教宗又說:“我很高興各大洲大學牧靈界傑出教授和代表們來羅馬參與盛會。這乃是教會與大學一向進行活潑對話的重要里程碑。我希望各地方教會發展大學牧靈工作,以便培育青年和提煉出以福音為精神的文化”。

教宗本篤十六世宣布6月開啓特別的司鐸年

(梵蒂岡電臺訊)教宗本篤十六世昨天16日上午接見出席聖座聖職部大會的與會人士時宣布,將于今年6月19日開啓司鐸年,到明年6月19日結束。把這一年定爲司鐸年的目的是在强調每位司鐸都該專心致力于“成全的德行”,使他有效地盡其職務使命。教宗也表示,司鐸要按照梵二大公會議的訓導得到良好的塑造,在道德風尚和外表能够讓人識別出來。

聖化、訓導、引領:從主教在一位司鐸的頭上覆手那時起,司鐸的生命就該爲這三個價值作見證。教宗表示,這些價值“在成爲職務之前”,是“一項禮物”,藉著這項禮物,司鐸參與“新生命”,獲得耶穌的“風格”,也就是使徒們的風格。教宗指出,“參與”基督的生命也成了一種權力,使“專心致力于成全的德行”成爲“必要,甚至不可或缺”。

教宗指出:“正是爲促使司鐸致力于成全的德行,而他們職務的有效性尤其有賴于這個德行,我决定舉行特別的‘司鐸年’。在這一年也紀念阿爾斯的本堂神父聖若望·瑪利亞·維雅內去世150周年,他是爲基督的羊群服務的牧人的真正榜樣。”

教宗指出了“司鐸持續培育”的重要性仍是優先重視的環節,好使他們“繼續不斷地同教會的傳統共融。”教宗也要求主教們培養他們首要的合作人“具有真正父性的人際關係”,他特別强調了教會訓導對司鐸的重要性,指出:“重要的是讓司鐸們,尤其年青的司鐸正確理解按照教會教義的完整知識予以詮釋的梵蒂岡第二届大公會議的文獻。也迫切需要彌補這一意識,即促使司鐸提醒自己在信仰判斷、個人德行甚至在衣著方面都能讓人認出和識別出來,在文化和愛德方面永遠抱一顆教會傳教使命的心。”

教宗催促司鐸們在這些方面加以注意是基于對“近幾十年來社會根本改變”的認識,這些改變要求用“最大的教會能量”來照顧關心司鐸的候選人。教宗本篤十六世堅持表示,司鐸的職務該當適當地加以評估,因爲他“在教會內”的使命是使“基督的中心地位”具體化。

教宗也提醒司鐸使命的4個性質。他强調,這項使命具有的“教會性質”是因爲“沒有一人宣講自己”,他們宣講的是天主。教會的另一個性質是“共融”,因爲“是在合一與共融”中履行這項使命的。最後是“聖統”和“信仰教義”,教宗說這兩個性質强調了“教會紀律的重要性”。在信仰教義方面,教宗再次提出“教義的培育,不只是起初的神學培育,也需要持續的培育。”

默 想

  • 比喻故事中,那「惡僕」等於我們,「主人」是天主。我們早已獲得天主的恩惠,卻彷彿「忘掉」了似的,轉瞬間,即不善待我們身邊的人,甚至做出傷害近人的事。
  • 要真心真意體會比喻故事的真義,其實非常不容易。因為必須配合深度的反省精神,我們才逐漸領略到自己的忘恩負義,或內心的劣根性。
  • 當人更深刻地明白自己如何被上主無條件地愛,冰封了的心得以被溶解,漸漸地變成肉心,所謂「有容乃大,無欲則剛」。
  • 我們多少總曾領略上主的恩情,藉由父母、親友、大自然的滋養,我們理應更明白祂的愛。在四旬期內,讓我們反思那內在的我,遠離那「惡僕」的習性。
