“To what should I compare the kingdom of God? It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed in with three measures of flour until all of it was leavened.” (Luke 13:20-21). “The whole Bible is based on the notion of having always been the same notion, which is the notion of the Kingdom of Heaven or Kingdom of God. This notion is very important for the understanding of the Bible. Because of this, some theologians use the Kingdom of Heaven as the theme for the whole Bible. Hence, all teachings in the Bible are related to the teaching of the Kingdom of Heaven.” (Studium Biblicum dictionary no. 191) In other words, upon the incarnation of the Word of God (Jesus Christ who took on a body and was born), the Kingdom of Heaven began on earth. However, the arrival of Jesus was like the yeast, not catching the attention of others. “Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon, and are not his sisters here with us?” (Mark 6:3). They even disliked Him. However, Jesus did not give up because of this. He always maintained a peaceful and calm attitude. “Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matt 11:29-30) Being “gentle and humble in heart’ is a good model for the arrival of the Kingdom of Heaven. When the seeds of the Kingdom of Heaven (The Word of God) “fell on good soil and brought forth grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” (Matt 13:8) The meaning of “good soil” depends on whether we are willing and whether we are open. Ever since creation, we have been in God’s living plan. However, we are free to respond. This is another one of God’s mysteries.
