“Jesus turned around and, looking at his disciples, rebuked Peter and said, "Get behind me, Satan. You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do.” (Mark 8:33) According to the Gospel of Matthew, when Simon Peter spoke out that Jesus is the Messiah; Jesus replied to him, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father.” (Matthew 16:17) However, when Peter tried to sincerely convince his master not to head out for Jerusalem, what he received was an unsatisfactory response from Jesus, “Get behind me, Satan! You are an obstacle to me. You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do.” The differences between “Blessed” and “Satan” are about “Towards God” or “Abandoning God”. “No servant can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” (Like 16:13) How can we meet God’s will in our daily lives? On one hand is dedication while the other hand listens to the voice of the Holy Spirit. Although the sound is weak, nonetheless it is very clear. As long as we are willing to follow God’s will to live free from stubbornness, the Holy Spirit will be just like a beam of light in a dark room and ready to illuminate an entire place.
