“He said to him, “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” This is the greatest and the first commandment.” (Matthew 22:37-38) In the Old Testament, the “Ten Commandments” are named “The ten terms”. It refers to the simple way of living regulations. The Jews viewed the commandments with great importance. They recited them everyday and used them as lessons to teach their children. In the time of Emperor, the Israelis made confessions according to the Ten Commandments in the Temple. When they left the Temple and returned home, they kept them in their heart. The Ten Commandments became center of their life and guidance on how to live. Since the Ten Commandments came directly from the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, they are binding to mankind and it is the only way for us to achieve eternal life. He strongly protected the independence of faith in the Church and was at odds with the social atmosphere and norms. If we put God as the first position in our life, it naturally rivals with secularism. Hence this is the cross we carry!
