“Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.”” (John 6:35) When Jesus specifically prescribed that “This life of bread” is his flesh, some of the disciples felt his words was too rigid and hard to believe. They decided to leave Jesus. Jesus said, "For this reason I have told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by my Father." Believing Jesus’ presence in the Sacrament of Eucharist is a graceful gift. Jesus then said to the Twelve, “Do you want to leave?” Simon Peter answered directly, "Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and are convinced that you are the Holy One of God." From a human point of view, it is difficult to understand the real meaning of Jesus’ words, “Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you.” Simon Peter answered that if Jesus said so, then he has to believe. In the last supper, when Jesus said the blessing and turning the bread and wine into his body and blood, he added, “Do this in memory of me.” (See Luke 22:19) At the same time, Jesus authorized the duty of priesthood to the disciples. In this way, all faithful people have the graceful opportunity to receive the body and blood of Jesus Christ for eternal life. Lord Jesus, Please increase our faith in you.
