"The Lord said to my lord, ‘Sit at my right hand until I place your enemies under your feet.’" (Mark 12:36) In the first verse of Psalm 110, Jesus confirmed that he is the Messiah. The Studium Biblicum’s states that "In here, Jesus proves that he himself is not only the Son of David (has human nature), he is also the Son of God (has heavenly nature)". Jesus was born of the "Son of David" and he carried on to finish David’s work. In the annunciation, the angel said: "The Lord God will give him the throne of David his father". (Luke 1:32) To a lot of Jews, Jesus’ preaching about the "Kingdom of God" is actually an extension of David’s kingdom. When Jesus entered into Jerusalem, the crowd sang: "Blessed is the kingdom of our father David that is to come! Hosanna in the highest!" (Mark 11:10) The verse "until I place your enemies under your feet" is actually an echo of the Old Testament: "I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He will strike at your head, while you strike at his heel." (Genesis 3:15) "I come not to bring peace, but to bring a sword." is what this was meant.
