“It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain.” (John 15:16) "For you are a people sacred to the LORD, your God; he has chosen you from all the nations. It was not because you are the largest of all nations that the LORD set his heart on you and chose you…It was because the LORD loved you and because of his fidelity to the oath he had sworn to your fathers, that he brought you out with his strong hand.” (Deuteronomy 7:6-8) “You are "a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may announce the praises" of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” (1 Peter 2: 9) “Therefore, brothers, be all the more eager to make your call and election firm, for, in doing so, you will never stumble.” (2 Peter 1: 10) Whether it is from the Old Testament or New Testament, God had chosen His nation or His Church, both have the same goal: to witness God’s love. Jesus had done so, “No one (Jesus) has greater love than this, to lay down one's life (to be nailed on the cross) for one's friends.” “By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.” (John 15: 8) The fruit is to love one another, just as Jesus had loved us. It means “to love unconditionally” and “to be the first one to love”!
