"Do you also want to leave?" (John 6:67) After listening to Jesus’ teaching, “Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you", some of his disciples said, "This saying is hard; who can accept it?" and as a result, many of them returned to their former ways of life and no longer accompanied him. Jesus then said to the Twelve, "Do you also want to leave?" Simon Peter answered him, "Master, to whom shall we go? Only you have the words of eternal life.” The mystery of God is immeasurable so that human intelligence is unable to absolutely see and understand thoroughly. However it does not mean that this claim provokes incredulity. ‘Faith’ is a gift bestowed by God, thus Jesus added: “No man can come to me, unless it be given him by my Father.” The saying was still hard to understand even though Jesus explained in advance that he was going to bless the bread & wine, which would then turn into His flesh and blood. To understand God's truth, one cannot rely fully on human intellectual powers, but with the gift of wisdom and grace bestowed by God. John mentioned this in his letter, “Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is begotten by God, and everyone who loves the father loves (also) the one begotten by him. In this way we know that we love the children of God when we love God and obey his commandments.” Jesus had said that the gift of faith given to us by God is just like crockery, easily broken thus it should be properly preserved. The best way to do it is to share this divine present generously with others.
