“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draw him. “ (John 6:44) Jesus had said, “It is not you who chose me, but I who chose you.” When Peter said that Jesus is the Messiah, Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father.” Jesus reminded us that he fully fulfilled his mission given by the Father. Even in such simple matters as choosing his disciples, he let Father make the decision. This does not mean that Jesus did not have his own opinions, but to let Father make the final decision. Jesus used to pray alone early in the morning in quiet places. The content of his prayers will most likely centre around the same prayer he taught his disciples, “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, … your will be done, on earth as in heaven.” To Jesus, regardless of doing things related to heaven or to earth, he will direct the glory to the Father. While praying in the garden on Mount Olive, he said, “My Father, let this cup pass from me.” What a classic prayer! Jesus continued his praying, “Yet, not as I will, but as you will.” When he woke up his three disciples, he said to them, “The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Jesus set a good example to his disciples : keep on praying!
