“Put your finger here,………then stretch out your hand.” (John 20: 27) It is an invitation, and also a sign of forgiveness, which is equivalent to Jesus’ request to Peter, ‘Do you love me?’ The calling of ‘Come, follow me’ has engraved on every follower’s heart. What a straightforward response when Thomas said, ‘My Lord and my God.’ To follow Christ, we need to reach out to touch His hem, just like the woman who had suffered from hemorrhages for twelve years. She thought to herself, ‘If I only touch his cloak, I will get well.’ Jesus always welcomes us to go to Him, as He responded to the question put forth by John and Andrew, ‘Lord, where do you live?’ He replied, ‘Come and see.’ Therefore, we need to ‘believe’, and we need to ‘see’ with our heart. The homeward bound journey to our heavenly homeland is full of struggles but also solace because Jesus accompanies us.
