The Sichuan level 8 earthquake caused serious casualties and economic loss. Many people use the phrases: "The world is unkind, humanity has righteousness" as encouragement. However, the phrase “the world is unkind” is open to question from a religious point of view; because it tends to signify that the "act of God" comes from the Creator’s "immoral" decision.

Science tells us that earthquakes are caused by the impact of rapid movement of tectonic plates. Since Japan is located in the volcanic zone, all high-rise buildings are designed to protect from earthquakes. Since Sichuan is located within the earthquake zone, Sichuan Provincial Government also has stringent requirements for all buildings. Those collapsed school buildings were definitely built illegally. The reason is very simple: Of the schools engineered, constructed and supervised by the people of Hong Kong in the same district, not one collapsed.

Every few decades California's Redwood forests (sequoia) encounter a serious fire. The source of fire is from lightning that is virtually impossible to guard against. Later, scientists arrived at this conclusion: Those over a thousand year-old mahogany trees need a lot of nitrogen as nutrients. Forest fires have their natural ecological needs.

I trust that nobody would think that “the world is unkind” when there is a forest fire! Not sure if this earthquake which caused massive student casualties could be the result when “humanity does not have righteousness”?
