Peace

A seminar was recently held at Saint Paul University in Ottawa with the topic of “Peace is Contagious”.

The organizer of the event, Professor Vern Redekop, said that human beings can be easily affected by the surrounding environment. A prime example would be the recent confrontation in Caledonia, Ontario, between the natives of the Six Nations and the residents in that city. When everyone is willing to step up to negotiate, all roadblocks will then disappear. However, if no one is willing to give in, the barriers will remain. He used Nelson Mandela of South Africa and Mother Theresa as examples to prove that the message of peace can penetrate deep into the heart of people.

Twenty-five years ago on June 24, our Holy Mother appeared in Medjugorje to start to preach the message of peace to the world. She wanted our heart to embrace God, and she taught us to pray with heart, to receive the Eucharist, to read the Bible, to fast, and to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation every month.

“The way of Divine Infant” by St. Therese of Lisieux suggested us to use the sacred heart of Jesus as an example to treat others humbly and modestly.

May our Holy Mother bless us and protect us.
