“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12) We see the moon glow at night. The moon glows because it reflects light from the sun. In fact there is light everywhere in the outer space, but we cannot see it because it only becomes visible when it is reflected off other objects. Similarly, the beauty of the “light” of Christ is only visible when it is “reflected” by us. A little girl from Medjugorje asked Holy Mary, “Why are you so beautiful?” Mary responded, “Because I know how to love.” Mary’s life is filled with the Holy Spirit, therefore she reflects God’s presence wherever she goes. Likewise, we also become other people’s “light of life” when we live according to God’s words and love one another.
