Peter is the leader of the apostles. Although he had denied for three times that he was one of Jesus’ disciples, when Jesus had risen from the death and presented himself to his apostles, Jesus only asked Peter to reaffirm his loyalty to God when he was assigned the responsibility of establishing the Church. Paul was called Saul before he believed in God. Back then he had the permission from the chief priests to arrest the people who believed in God. On his journey to Damascus, a light from the sky struck him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?" Saul said, "Who are you, sir?" The reply came, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.” “What would you want me to do?” Later Paul became an apostle who spread God’s words to the pagans. Although Peter and Paul had been sinners, Jesus did not turn them away for the mistakes they had made. From this we can see that if we are modest and honest, our sins can be forgiven in God’s mercy.
