June 12, 2011 was Pentecost Sunday, an important day for the diocese. On that day Bishop Tong celebrated the baptismal ceremony during Mass along with 3000 brothers and sisters in the Cathedral.

As for the parish, choirs from Annunciation along with Ss. Cosmas and Damian Church also joined the evening Vespers with Crown of Thorns Church at Tai Wo Hau SKH. Rev Cindy Kwok hosted the liturgy while Fr. Joseph Liu was responsible for reading the Psalms and Gospel. As for myself I took the sermon part and the choir from Crown of Thorns Church was naturally the guest of honor.

This was the first time in conducting a joint activity such as this event. The attendance was not too enthusiastic but has made good progress in setting up the first step towards mutual interflow between churches. Rev Kwok also had the same wish to host similar activities in the near future. Friends who attended the event felt at home and warm.

Initially we also invited Rev. Ma Wai Yee from Church of Christ in China Chuen Yuen Church and Rev. Jenny Chan Kuen Lai from Joy Lutheran Church at Chuen Lung St. However due to Pentecost Sunday, their churches also had their own special events.

The purpose for organizing the unity activity between the churches is to allow Jesus’ prayer “Father, May all of them be one” to come true within our community. This is not something the power of mankind can accomplish, as we only contribute a small amount of effort and unity has to be leaded by the Holy Spirit. Please hope that we will not forget to continue praying for the unity of churches.
