“For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:30) Jesus said to his disciples to not learn by the bad habits of the Scribes and scholars of Law as they distorted the original intent of the law. Furthermore they only taught others what to do but they remained hypocritical to their own teachings. First, Jesus asked his disciples to set a good example, “Learn from me!” Learn his meekness and humbleness. During the last super, Jesus washing the feet of the disciples was a very good example. Jesus did not exempt his disciples to bear their own “Yoke” and “Burden”, and only said, “For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” Why is “easy” and “light”? The reason is because no matter what kind of suffering we encounter, if it comes from God’s holy will, God will grant us the sufficient grace to bear. In other words, it does not count for those who are in a self bothering situation. Therefore, the top priority is to follow and act out God’s holy will. When Jesus prayed at Gethsemane, he asked his Father to take away his sorrowful cup. However he added, “Yet, not as I will, but as you will.” Jesus never lost in peace. During his forty days of strict fasting in the wilderness, although he was tested by the devil, he did not bargain at all with the probe and just testified calmly with the words of the bible. The principle of “Yes means Yes and No means No.” is the reason why Jesus had not been tempted nor lost his mind. In addition, another important reason is that Jesus bears the cross with us at all times.
