“For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.” (Luke 6:38) If we are generous, God will be even more generous, because of “Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap.” God certainly will not haggle with us, because he is full of generosity. It can be seen from the instances of the wedding in Cana and Peter fishing in deep water. “Peter once said to Jesus, "We have given up everything and followed you. What will there be for us?" Jesus said to them, “Amen, I say to you that you who have followed me, in the new age, when the Son of Man is seated on his throne of glory, will yourselves sit on the twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands for the sake of my name will receive a hundred times more, and will inherit eternal life.” (Matthew 19:27-29) Peter denied Jesus for three times, but when he re-declared his faith to God, Jesus still affirmed him as the “Rock” of the church. “When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs." He then said to him a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Tend my sheep." He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, "Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." (Jesus) said to him, "Feed my sheep.” (John 21:15-17) To walk on the road of the heavenly kingdom, we need to be very careful as if we are treading on thin ice. Do not be negligent and idle because of God’s mercy and generosity.
