“Do not be afraid any longer, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:32) As weakness is part of human nature, people always fear for the future. Thus the dark side in us requires God’s light to shine. Therefore Jesus said, “I am the light of the world.” (John 8:12) The angel said to Mary, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.” (Luke 1:30) because the true light will enter the world through Mary. When Jesus called Peter to become the men catcher, Jesus especially comforted him , “Do not be afraid!” (Luke 5:10) for Jesus himself is the men catcher. Jesus called his disciples “little flock” which means he will look after them, as mentioned in “the parable of lost sheep”, “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray, will he not leave the ninety-nine in the hills and go in search of the stray?” (Matthew 18:12) Where exactly does the road lead to as Jesus said? According to the Gospel of John: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me. In my Father's house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be. (John 14:1-3) Whether in heaven or this life, Jesus never wants to depart from us. The purpose of the Sacrament of the Holy Communion established by Jesus shows that he is willing to live on forever within us. “I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me will be thrown out like a branch and wither; people will gather them and throw them into a fire and they will be burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you.” (John 15: 5-7) Let us pray to God to help us overcome all temptations so that we can clearly see towards the true light, our Lord Jesus Christ.
